The volunteer guides and research faculty in the department explained everything about the variety of rocks, the availability of minerals in rocks, the processing of crude minerals from ores, the uses of minerals, the scientists and science of Mineralogy, Petrology & Geology.  Students were told about the crystalline formation of rocks over ages owing to plate tectonics, pressure and temperature.

The students were given knowledge and told about the Primary, Sedimentary and Metamorphic rock formations, the formation of fossils in Sedimentary rocks.  They saw the samples of different metallic, non metallic elements and power resources available in rocks.

It was a very educative and resourceful visit where the students could actually touch and feel the rocks and ores about which they learn in the 3rd lesson of Geography “Minerals and Power Resources”

The department presented the school with a sample ore of Heamatite (High grade Iron ore).
