Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations and Workshop on Making Eco-Friendly Ganesha Idols

Every year Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in Little Angels School, MVP Colony with lot of reverence and eagerness. The festival is celebrated to mark the birth of the elephant headed God Ganesha – the God of Prosperity and Wisdom.  Post covid, Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated in school for the first time on 30th August.

On this occasion, a special puja was performed and devotional songs were sung by the school choir team. The special occasion was graced by Headmistress Mrs. Indu Malini. In her message to the children, she explained the significance of the festive occasion and the importance of celebrating in an eco-friendly way. She encouraged everyone to opt for a green Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at home and spread the message to their friends and neighbours.

In order to promote the usage of eco-friendly idols for a safer environment, a workshop on "Making Eco-friendly Ganesha Idols" was organised by the Management on 27th August for the students of class 8.

Mr. J.V. Ratnam – Resource Person from the NGO Green Climate conducted the workshop. The objective of the workshop is to educate the young minds and sensitise them to take care of the environment. Students learnt how to make Ganesha idols with clay and each one of them used their creative instincts to make the idols which were later kept for display. Some students expressed their views on the importance of celebrating the festival in an eco -friendly and not to harm the environment by using idols made of plaster of paris.
